Why Choose Sedation Dentistry

- Have a low pain threshold
- Have difficulty sitting still for long periods
- Have a strong gag reflex
- Require extensive dental work

Our Sedation
Options
We offer several types of sedation to meet your specific needs:

Minimal Sedation
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas):
- How It Works: You inhale nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen through a mask placed over your nose. The gas induces a sense of relaxation and reduces anxiety.
- Benefits: Fast-acting, easily adjustable, and wears off quickly, allowing you to drive yourself home after the procedure.
- Ideal For: Patients with mild anxiety or those undergoing minor dental procedures.

Moderate Sedation
Oral Sedation:
- How It Works: You take a prescribed pill, usually a benzodiazepine such as Valium or Halcion, about an hour before your appointment. This medication helps you relax and may make you feel sleepy.
- Benefits: Easy to administer, with a deeper level of sedation compared to nitrous oxide.
- Ideal For: Patients with moderate anxiety or those requiring longer or more complex procedures.

Moderate Sedation
IV Sedation:
- How It Works: Sedative drugs are administered directly into your bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This allows for a deeper level of sedation that can be adjusted during the procedure.
- Benefits: Quick onset, highly controllable, and provides a deeper sedation level.
- Ideal For: Patients with severe anxiety, those undergoing lengthy procedures, or those who have difficulty sitting still.
